The legally customary performance of seriousness, on a website that is mostly a man and his lattice.
Welcome. You’ve reached the part of the site where, by ancient internet custom, I’m meant to intimidate you with a document. Let’s both lower our expectations.
The short version
This is a personal website. There is no company, no board, no “we” — there is one postdoc, some opinions, and a background animation made of his own source code. Nothing here is trying to monetise you, radicalise you, or enrol you in anything.
The words and the code
The words on this site are mine; please don’t pass them off as yours. The code, by contrast, is open source — read the licences on GitHub and take whatever they permit, which is generous. You’re welcome to quote me, disagree with me, or screenshot me into oblivion. I’d prefer you do it accurately, but the universe is large and I am realistic.
Provided “as is”
The site is offered in the grand tradition of the cosmos, which also shipped with no warranty and several unresolved bugs. So if something here breaks, misleads, or quietly ruins your afternoon, you have my sympathy and precisely zero grounds for a lawsuit.
Links to elsewhere
Some links lead off this site to places I don’t control. Beyond my own domain I make no promises, and you are, as ever, on your own out there.
Changes
I may revise this page whenever the mood or the law takes me. You will not be notified — notification would require a mailing list, a mailing list would require collecting your email, and the privacy policy explains at some length why that isn’t happening.
Governing philosophy
In the long run, the heat death of the universe renders all terms, conditions, and policies equally void, so try not to lose sleep over this one. In the short run: be decent, cite your sources, and enjoy the pulsing code.
None of the above is legal advice. I am a physicist — I put quantum fields on a lattice; I do not pass the bar.
