A privacy policy for a website that collects, with great effort, nothing.
Every website is obliged to have one of these. Most use it to explain, at length and in a soothing voice, the surveillance you have just agreed to. Mine is going to be shorter.
The short version
Here is my entire data-collection operation, in full: nothing.
This is a static site. There are no accounts to create, no forms that phone home, no analytics watching where your cursor wanders, no tracking pixels, and no cookies baked in my kitchen. I am not assembling a shadow profile of you, because I find the practice distasteful and, separately, would have no idea how to begin.
The one exception
The single piece of information that touches your machine is a note — stored in your own browser — recording whether you’d like the site in dark or light mode. It never leaves your device, it never reaches me, and I will never think about it again. You can delete it by clearing your browser data, an act of housekeeping I wholeheartedly endorse.
The boring server logs
In the interest of not lying to you: the server this site lives on may, like every server since the dawn of the web, keep mundane access logs — an IP, a timestamp, the digital equivalent of a doorbell camera nobody ever reviews. I don’t read them. I wouldn’t know what to do with them if I did. They are someone else’s boring problem. I mention it mostly because I route my own searches through SearXNG and run my language models on my own hardware, and it would be rank hypocrisy to harvest you the moment you wandered onto my homepage.
Changes
I may revise this page whenever the mood or the law takes me. You will not be notified, because notification would require a mailing list, and a mailing list would require collecting your email, and we have just been over why that isn’t happening.
None of the above is legal advice. I am a physicist, not a lawyer, and the distinction has never once disappointed me.
